i just finished my IH essay! what it means to be a citizen of canada. i was hoping i could do 'citizen of the world' cos i really dunno what to write about being canadian. i mean, i've spent 2/3 of my life outside canada (and the later 10 years too) so i've no particular notion of what it means. but the essay required me to be specific about whichever country i was writing about, so i had no choice. was seriously tempted to crap a line or two about 'i was born there and spent most of my life out of it so the only thing i know about what it means to be canadian is that i have a different colour passport and pay more school fees and so i cant write the essay so bye' but that wouldn't get me anywhere so i ended up looking up the constitution and crapping about all the freedom and equality thingies. and the essay got me wondering, 'where's home?' is it where i was born? where my parents come from (all that'motherland' talk) or where i've spent most of my life? i'm really not too sure. but i guess i've the most feelings attached to singapore cos i've lived here for so long and know so many wonderful people here. yup.
if you read this, could you do me a favour and check out

i read and finished two books today! the colour purple by alice walker and dear mr henshaw by beverly cleary. the latter's quite a kiddy book and the words were big (pictures too!) so i finished it real quick. but i really liked both books! they're very honest and heartfelt.
oh man, my life's really screwing up. ack. its really quite depressing
but anyways, happy birthday to hoxy and wee! :D
